The main definition of Nationalism is a person who loves their country. Applies a common history in culture, and language. Its one of the main driving forces in the contemporary world. I am a nationalistic person. I speak english, I have built upon the american culture, and I pledge to my flag.
After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Austria ruled the Italian Provinces of venetia. Between 1815 and 1848 a huge amount of Italians started to leave the foreign rule. After that two leaders came . Leaders with nothing alike two people who had different contributions but that both Italy. In 1832 a man by the name of Giuseppe Mazzini formed a nationalist group by the name of Young Italy.

Simon Bolivar and The Latin american Revolutions
Simon Bolivar is a famous man that accomplished alot so that the people will be free from the binds that which Spain had kept us held from. Spain basically controlled Latin American. Everything From Chile,Ecuador, Peru, El Salvador ( South America ) to Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba ( the Carribean islands) etc. Simon Bolivar was a man who wanted his people to be free. He first helped Venezula to get thier freedom. From then on he helped others to get out of the clutchs that Spain had .
This all took place after the American and French Revolution. Everybody was hearing about being on their own and having thier own government that Simon wanted to do the same so he travled to America to study. In the matter of 20 years all of the Latin American culture were free because of this man. The defeat of Spanish army gained much respect for Simon. This is why he is a very important man and we learn about him till this date.

John Locke and "The Enlightenment"
Thomas Jefferson stated in The Declaration Of Independance, paragraph two, all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Basically meaning that all people in The United States Of America will have equal right. That people have the right to pursue there happiness and have liberty amongs eachother.
It also says that the government splits its power. Also that the people, we as citizens, make the government. Following by the way that The Enlightenment thinker ( John Locke) set forth his ideas. Governemtn comes from the people. Thats how we handle our government today, having we as the power have Life, Liberty, Pursuit of property. Jerfferson just switched the last word from property to happiness and we can see that Jefferson was very influneced by Locke's ideas. So for conclusion it is said that Democracy came from the ideas of Thomas Jefferson and John Locke.
